What Have I Done to Deserve This? (Spanish: ¿Qué he hecho yo para merecer esto?) is a 1984 Spanish black comedy written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar. The title is sometimes given with an exclamation mark at the end rather than a question mark.
Starring Carmen Maura, Ángel de Andrés López, Chus Lampreave and Verónica Forqué, the films follows the misadventures of an overworked housewife and her dysfunctional family.
What Have I Done, Almodovar’s fourth film, became the first of his works to be released theatrically in the U.S. premiering to sold-out crowds as part of New Directors/New Films series, co-sponsored by the New York Film Festival and the Film Department of the Museum of Modern Art.
Almodóvar has described this film as Italian Neorealism, although this tribute also involves jokes about peadophilia, prostitution, and a telekinetic child.
Storyline
Gloria, a downtrodden housewife, lives with her husband Antonio, mother-in-law and two sons in a small, shabby and overcrowded apartment located by the Madrid motorway.
Besides taking care of her home and family, Gloria also works as a cleaning lady to make ends meet and takes amphetamines to keep going. Her marriage to Antonio, a taxi driver, is on the rocks.
Gloria’s life has become unbearable. She has no hope, no money, no opportunities yet she is still required to pay for everything
Review
Technically, What Have I Done? is deliberately crude and the production values raw, a combined result of the film’s low-budget as well as Almodovar’s relative lack of experience.
But the film’s shabby look is in tune with the tale’s squalid realistic context and social class of its protagonists.
What Have I Done? was critically much better received than Almodovar’s three previous films and put him on the movie map in America as a major talent to watch

Two young musicians, Ruy and Tito (Yoel and San Martín), get a chance at an international breakthrough through a Spanish record company, but they would have to change their Cuba-themed lyrics to cater to an international audience. The themes of the film are, according to wilkipedia, art versus commerce, nationalism versus globalism, and communism versus capitalism. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habana_Blues)
Storyline
Benito Zambrano, whose debut feature, Solas, was a worldwide hit, moved in a decidedly different direction for his equally impressive second feature. Cuba is a land of music, and consequently a land of musicians. Longtime friends and collaborators Tito and Ruy are preparing for a big concert when they learn that two Spanish record producers want to hear them play; this could be the break they’ve been waiting for. Will Ruy accompany his wife and children to Miami? What will happen to Tito’s grandmother if he goes off on the worldwide tour the Spaniards have been talking about? Habana Blues is full of lots of extraordinary music, but what makes it so special is the way Zambrano details the lives of these artists, and the choice they might be forced to make regarding their music, their families and their country. The unsatisfactory ending to the case has always bothered him as Benjamín and Pablo tracked the killer. Despite the department already having two other suspects, Benjamín and Pablo ultimately were certain that a man named Isidoro Gómez is the real killer.
The process of revisiting the case is more an issue of closure for him. He tries to speak to the key players in the case, most specifically Irene, who still works in the justice department and who he has always been attracted to …

Review:
(Extract from an article by Mathilde Dumazet)
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is a 1988 film where Almodóvar manages to draw upon almost all of his pet themes at the same time. He puts everything into the pot and comes out with a film that’s light, refreshing and tangy.
Plot: After their break-up, Pepa (Carmen Maura) needs to talk to Ivan about something important before he goes off on a trip with another woman.
For every sub-plot, there’s a woman with a tacit connection to the former couple. Pepa’s protégée, Candela (Maria Barranco), provided lodging to the Shiite terrorists who planned to hijack Ivan’s plane to Stockholm. His ex-wife, Lucia (Julieta Serrano), also tries to reach him to make him pay for the years she spent in an insane asylum. Ivan’s son (Antonio Banderas) is under the influence of his rough virgin fiancée (Rossy de Palma). Finally there’s Paulina, a feminist lawyer whose shadow looms large over the characters until we discover she, too, might be on the verge of full collapse. All this in the kitschy-vintage 1950s-style set.

“La Corte del Faraón” is an entertaining look at the early years of Franco’s Regime.
A group of semi-professional actors stage a charitable benefit performance of a pre-war zarzuela (a kind of Spanish operetta), “La Corte del Faraón”. The production is too saucy for the censor, Padre Calleja, and the whole company ends up in the police station. They soon discover that the right to justice depends on which side you supported in the civil war.
The film will explore the alliance of powers after the civil war and the relationship between winners and losers. We will analyse the end of the war and the beginning of a new regimen that will last for 40 more years.

La niña de tus ojos is a 1998 Spanish film produced and directed by Fernando Trueba and starring Penélope Cruz, Antonio Resines , Jorge Sanz, Rosa María Sardá and Santiago Segura. The story centers on a fictional Spanish Andalucian actress, Macarena Granada, with whom Joseph Goebbels falls in love.
The story is based on real facts: during the Spanish Civil War, most of the Spanish cinema studios supported the Republic, so Franco’s followers had to go to Germany or Italy to make fictional films. In Germany the films were shoot at Universum Film AG in Berlin, known as UFA studios both in Spanish and German language versions.
This film allows us to explore the world of the “business” industry and the political relationships between Franco and Hitler in the 40s.

For Moncho, 1936 is a perfect year: he starts school, he has a wonderful teacher, he makes a friend in Roque, he explores maturity with his older brother, a saxophone player, traveling together with the band from their little town in Galicia.
But it all changes in July with the starting of the Spanish Civil war. The Spanish Republic comes under fire from Fascist rebels and people have to take sides. Moncho’s father is a Republican as is the aging teacher, Don Gregorio. As power falls clearly to the other side, the forces of fear, violence, and betrayal alter profoundly everybody’s live.
